History of the Building

Nestled between the iconic Carnegie Hall and the verdant expanse of Central Park, 120 West 57th Street stands as a testament to Manhattan’s rich architectural tapestry. Originally constructed in the early 20th century, this building has witnessed the city’s evolution, from the Jazz Age to the modern metropolis. Its proximity to cultural landmarks has made it a sought-after location, blending historical significance with contemporary allure.

The Vision: Transforming Space for Paris Bar 57

The ground floor of 120 West 57th Street previously housed a commercial space that lacked the character befitting its prestigious surroundings. The vision was to metamorphose this area into Paris Bar 57, a high-end French brasserie that would exude elegance and pay homage to the neighborhood’s storied past. The challenge lay in crafting a façade that seamlessly integrated with the building’s historic essence while introducing modern sophistication.

Our Craftsmanship: Blending Tradition with Modernity

Under the meticulous guidance of Paul Mulcahy, Right Path Windows & Doors embarked on this transformative journey. Our approach was rooted in reverence for the building’s heritage, combined with a commitment to superior craftsmanship.

  • Material Selection: We chose solid Sapele mahogany for its durability and rich aesthetic, ensuring longevity and a timeless appeal.
  • Custom Millwork: Our team fabricated and installed mahogany wood cladding over the existing aluminum storefront, meticulously replicating historic profiles to maintain architectural continuity.
  • Entryway Enhancement: We crafted a pair of solid core mahogany double doors and a single mahogany door with a glass vision panel, balancing security with inviting transparency.
  • Collaborative Integration: Recognizing the importance of cohesive design, we coordinated closely with the aluminum storefront contractor and signage vendor, ensuring every element aligned flawlessly.
  • Precision Detailing: From producing and revising shop drawings to field-fitting cladding, every step was executed with precision, ensuring the final product met both aesthetic and functional standards.

The Outcome: A Façade That Tells a Story

The culmination of our efforts is a storefront that not only enhances the building’s curb appeal but also tells a story of transformation and respect for history. Paris Bar 57 now boasts a façade that captures the essence of a Parisian brasserie, inviting patrons into a space where old-world charm meets modern luxury.
